We are located in the Ida Pashamylaram industrial area, which is where a lot of the manufacturing happens around here. Our shop, P M Gravure L L P, is all about the printing process. When the machines are running, it’s quite loud and the whole place smells like ink and chemicals. It’s a smell you get used to after a while, though. We spend our days looking at rollers and checking the colors on the plastic or paper that’s coming through. It’s a bit of a technical job, making sure the engravings are just right so the print doesn't look blurry. We have a small crew and we mostly stay near the machines. There’s a tiny room where we can sit and have lunch, but most of the time we’re on our feet. The floors usually have some ink spills here and there, no matter how much we clean. We get orders from different companies and we just work through the stack. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a big run, and that means a lot of coffee from the stall down the road. We don't have a big marketing team or anything. Most of our work comes from being in this industrial zone and knowing the other businesses nearby. It’s hard work, but there’s something nice about seeing the finished rolls ready to be shipped out to the customers.
