Oxford High School is right in the middle of the bustle in Chudi Bazaar, Begum Bazaar. We are very close to the Jain Mandir, which is a major landmark around here. If you know the bazaar, you know how crowded and lively it gets. Our school is a bit of a refuge from all that noise once you get inside. The building is an older one, fitting in with the rest of the neighborhood. We have been educating the kids from Begum Bazaar for many years now. Because of where we are, space is at a premium. We don't have a sprawling campus, but we make the most of the rooms we have. The hallways are narrow, and the stairs are well-worn from thousands of feet going up and down over the decades. Teachers often have to raise their voices a bit to be heard over the sounds of the market outside, but it’s just something we are all used to. We offer high school classes, so we see the teenagers through their most important years. The students come from the families who run the shops nearby, so there is a real sense of local connection. Sometimes the front door sticks in the humidity, and the fans in the classrooms can be a bit clunky, but they keep the air moving. It’s a busy, cramped, but very active place to learn. We just keep pushing forward with the daily schedule and helping the kids get through their exams.
