Open Minds - A Birla School

Gachibowli is famous for all the big glass buildings and the heavy traffic in Hyderabad. But if you turn off the main road, you’ll find Open Minds - A Birla School. It’s a bit of a relief to get away from the car horns. The school has a fair amount of space, which is hard to come by in this part of the city. We have classrooms that get plenty of natural light, and the hallways are wide enough that the kids don't bump into each other too much. We don't try to pretend like we are some cold, corporate office. There are always stray jackets left on the playground and lunchboxes that nobody claimed. Our staff spends a lot of time just organizing the daily chaos. We have a playground that sees a lot of use, especially for football games after the main classes are over. The grass isn't always perfectly green, but the kids don't seem to mind. Inside, the walls have some scuff marks from where furniture was moved around. We have a small library where the books are a bit dusty, but they get read. It’s a place where things actually happen, so it’s never going to be perfectly tidy. We are just here doing our jobs in the middle of a very busy city, making sure the gates are locked at night and the lights are off. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we just take it as it comes without making much of a fuss.
