Nisa Fashions

Our place is right near the Banjari Darwaza in Golconda. If you’ve ever visited the fort, you know exactly where that gate is. It’s an old part of the city with so much history in the stones and the narrow lanes. We like being here at Nisa Fashions because it feels like we are part of the old Hyderabad. The streets are narrow and sometimes it’s hard for two cars to pass each other, so it can get a bit chaotic in the evenings. We’ve got a small shop that stays cool because of the thick walls of the older buildings nearby. You can hear the call to prayer from the local mosque and the sound of people bargaining in the markets. It’s a very lively atmosphere. We don’t have a website or anything like that, we just rely on people walking by or hearing about us from their neighbors. The shop is filled with various materials and we spend most of our time at the back where the light is better. It gets crowded inside when we have more than three people visiting at once. We usually have a pot of tea going for anyone who stops by to chat. It’s a very traditional way of doing things I suppose. We aren't in a hurry and we like talking to the people who come in. It makes the day go by faster and feels more like a community. It is a good way to live.
