Nandini Hotel

Our hotel, Nandini Hotel, is right across from the Imlibun Bus Station in Gowli Guda. Because of where we are, we get a lot of people who are either just arriving in the city or waiting for a bus to take them to another town. The 500012 area is always crowded and usually a bit dusty because of the construction nearby. I spend my days mostly at the front counter or checking on the kitchen. There’s a lot of luggage moving in and out, and the floor gets dirty fast with all the boots walking through. We try to keep it clean, but with the bus station right there, it’s a losing battle most of the time. We don't have any fancy decorations or expensive art on the walls. It's just wooden tables and some old fans that hum all day long. The kitchen staff is usually busy from five in the morning until we close late at night. We make a lot of tea and coffee for people who look tired from their long travels. Sometimes travelers ask for directions to the local markets, and we tell them what we know. It’s a loud place because of the buses honking and the people shouting outside, but you stop noticing it after a few weeks of working here. The water cooler in the corner is probably the most popular thing we have during the summer months. We just try to make sure there’s enough food for everyone who walks through the door. It's practical work, and it keeps us very busy.
