This is where we do our engineering work, at House Number 4 in Kamalanagar. Vanastalipuram is a decent place to be based out of in Hyderabad. Nphani Kumar runs the show here. We deal with infrastructure stuff, so there’s often blue prints and site maps rolled up in the corners of the rooms. It’s an old house converted into an office, which gives it a more relaxed feel than a corporate park. We have several desks squeezed into what used to be the living area. The gate outside squeaks every time someone comes in. We spend a lot of time out at sites, but this is where the planning happens. It’s mostly engineers and draftsmen coming in and out. Hyderabad weather can be tough, so we keep the AC running most of the day. It’s not a flashy place. We have some filing cabinets that have seen better days and a small kitchen where we make tea. The neighborhood is mostly quiet, which is good for focusing on calculations. Sometimes the internet goes out during the rains, and we just have to wait it out or do paperwork. People find us easily enough because everyone in Kamalanagar knows House Number 4. We’ve been part of this community for years. It’s just work, building things like roads and bridges. We keep a stack of hard hats by the door for when we need to head out to a project site.
