Maremma Aunty Hotal

We are located in Block No 29/08 of the JNNURM Indiramma Colony in Bahadurpally. It’s a big housing colony in the Quthbullapur area. Most people just call it the Aunty Hotel because that’s how they know me. I start cooking very early in the morning, usually while it’s still dark outside. The smell of the spices and the steam from the pots fills the whole kitchen. We have a few tables and benches for people to sit and eat. It’s a small place, so it gets crowded during breakfast and lunch times. My hands are always covered in flour or water from washing the vegetables. We don't have a fancy menu card. I just tell people what I have made for the day. Usually, it’s rice, dal, and some curry. The workers from the nearby sites come here because the food is like what they get at home. My family helps with the serving and the cleaning up. The stove is almost always on. It’s hot work and there is a lot of scrubbing to do at the end of the day. We don't have air conditioning or anything, just a couple of fans. People come in, eat their fill, and head back to work. I’ve been in this colony for years and I know most of the faces that walk through the door. It’s just good, simple food made with care. We keep it clean and keep it going every day.
