Lucky Paper Cups

We have been running this cup place in Paparaidu Nagar for a while now. It’s tucked away in Kukatpally, and if you walk by 4/42/1041, you can usually hear the machines clicking away. It is not a very big operation, just a few of us making sure the paper rolls are fed into the machines correctly. Sometimes the humidity makes the paper act funny, so we have to watch it. The floor is usually covered in little round paper scraps that fall out when the cups get punched. We stack them in tall towers and pack them into plastic bags. It gets pretty loud during the day, so we mostly talk over the noise. Our neighbors are used to us by now. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. There is just a desk with a lot of receipts and a calendar that is usually a few days behind. People from the local tea stalls come by to pick up their orders directly. We try to keep things simple. If the power goes out, we just take a break and sit outside for a bit until it comes back on. It is honest work and keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. We just focus on getting the stacks even and making sure the boxes are taped up tight for the evening delivery. It’s just how we do things here.
