Our place is located over at 15-8-346/1 in Begum Bazar. It is one of those spots that can be a bit hard to find if you aren't looking closely, tucked away among all the other shops in this busy part of town. The building is fairly typical for the area, standing tall with a lot of stuff packed inside. We spend most of our time dealing with suppliers and customers who come through the narrow lanes. It gets very busy around here, especially during the festive seasons when the whole market feels like it might burst. Inside the shop, things are kept simple. We have our counters and the storage area in the back where we keep the bulk of the items. It isn't a quiet place by any means; you can hear the street noise all day long. We start our mornings by rolling up the shutters and dusting off the front area. There is always someone coming in to ask about a price or to pick up a package. We try to keep things organized, but in a small space in Begum Bazar, things tend to pile up quickly. We eat our lunch at the small desk when there is a break in the crowd. It is a straightforward way of living and working. We’ve known the neighbors for years, and we all just get on with our business as the day goes by.
