Kamal Silks & Exporters

Kamal Silks & Exporters is based out of an apartment in Nallakunta. It's Flat 401 in the Pragati building, right across from the Ahobilla Mutt. Being in D Colony is convenient because it's a familiar neighborhood for everyone. We handle a lot of fabric, mostly silks, and spend our time coordinating shipments. It’s mostly just a few of us sitting around desks, checking samples and making sure the packing is right before things go out. Hyderabad has a long history with this kind of work, and we are just another small part of that. The office isn't anything special to look at, just a regular residential flat converted for our use. We have piles of registers and fabric swatches everywhere. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when a big order comes in, but we get through it. The area is usually quiet except for the temple bells nearby. We don’t spend money on advertising or big signs. Most of our work comes from people who have known us for years. It’s a straightforward business. We look at the quality of the thread, check the colors, and talk to the looms. Then there’s the exporting side, which means a lot of forms and customs talk.
