Joy Land School And Hostel

Our place is called Joy Land and it's located in the Hyder Shakote area, right near the Artillery Centre. We are a school but we also have a hostel, so it’s a 24-hour operation for us. Being near Langer House means there is always something going on nearby. The campus is where everything happens. We have kids who stay with us full-time and others who just come for the day. It’s a bit of a mix. Keeping the hostel running means we are always worrying about meals, laundry, and making sure everyone gets enough sleep. It’s not a quiet job. The school side of things is pretty standard. We have our classrooms and our teachers who have been with us through thick and thin. Sometimes the plumbing acts up or we run out of chalk, but we manage. We aren't trying to be a five-star hotel, just a decent place for kids to learn and live. The staff stays busy from dawn until late at night. We don't have a lot of fancy offices. Most of us are out on the grounds or in the halls. It feels more like a big, slightly disorganized home than a corporate building. We just do our best to keep things moving along for the sake of the students. It’s hard work, but we’ve gotten used to the pace over the years.
