Indian School

Our school is located on S D Road in Secunderabad, which is one of those streets that never seems to get quiet. The building has been here for a long time, and you can tell by the way the stone looks and how the hallways feel. It’s a big place with lots of rooms, and we spend a good chunk of our lives walking from one end to the other. There’s no fancy air conditioning here, just big windows and old ceiling fans that hum all day. We deal with a lot of paperwork and a lot of students every single day. The entrance is right off the main road, so there’s always a bit of a crowd at the gate in the morning. Inside, it’s just rows of benches and blackboards. We don’t try to make it look like something it isn’t. It’s a place for books and exams. Sometimes the bells don’t work right, or a window gets stuck, and we just fix it and move on. The staff room is usually full of half-finished tea cups and stacks of notebooks. We know the neighbors and the shopkeepers nearby because we’ve all been in this spot for so long. It’s just a standard school in a busy part of town. We keep things simple and try to get through the syllabus before the term ends. It's a lot of work but it’s what we do.
