Hotel Golkonda

Masab Tank is one of those places in Hyderabad where you really see the city’s energy, and we are right at 10-1-124. The traffic at the flyover and the junction near us is almost never-ending, so there’s always a hum of activity in the air. We’ve been in this building for quite some time, and it has its own character, which is a polite way of saying it’s not brand new anymore. We deal with the usual things like fixing a leaky faucet or making sure the elevators are behaving themselves. The staff here knows most of the regular people who come through for work. We aren't tucked away in some quiet suburb; we are right in the middle of the dust and the noise. We keep the rooms plain and functional because most people staying here are just passing through for chores or office work. In the afternoons, when the sun is really beating down on the pavement, the lobby is the only place that stays relatively cool. We don't have a big menu or anything complicated like that. Mostly, we just focus on making sure the rooms are ready when someone shows up tired from the road. It’s a lot of work keeping an older place like this going, but we’ve got a routine that seems to work for us and the folks who stay. We just keep our heads down and get the daily tasks done.
