Hindustan Paper Emporium

Running a shop like Hindustan Paper Emporium right near Charminar means things are always lively. We are located at Machill Kaman, and if you know this area, you know how packed the streets get. Our office isn't very large, but it's filled to the ceiling with different kinds of paper. Sometimes it’s a bit of a squeeze to get around the stacks. We've been here long enough that we know most of the regular faces who pass by our door. The building is old, like everything else around here, and it has that specific smell of old paper and dust. We open up early and usually stay late until the crowds start to thin out. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there’s always someone you know behind the counter. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of our notes are still scribbled on scraps of paper. It works for us. The noise from the street is constant—the bikes, the vendors, and the tourists all blend together. We don’t really do any advertising. People find us because we’ve been in the same spot for years. Dealing with paper is a bit messy, and your hands are always dry, but it’s a good trade. We just want to keep the doors open and provide what folks are looking for without making a big fuss about it. It is what it is and we are okay with that.
