Hbr Engineering is located in the Katedan Industrial Area, which is part of the RR District. We actually have three plots here—L207, 208, and 204. Having that much space helps us keep things moving, though it often feels like we still need more room for all the materials. Katedan is a rough-and-tumble industrial zone, so the roads aren't great and there's always a lot of dust in the air. We do engineering work, which mostly means a lot of welding, cutting, and assembly. It is a noisy place, and we are usually covered in some kind of shop grime by noon. We don’t have a big corporate office or a human resources department. It’s just the owner and the workers figuring out the schedule every morning. We have some heavy machines that have been with us for years, and they still do the job better than some of the newer stuff. When customers come by, they usually just walk right into the workshop to find whoever they need. We don't believe in formal appointments or fancy gatekeepers. If we are here, we are working. We take our breaks together and talk about the work or what’s happening in the news. It’s a straightforward way to run a business. We aren't trying to change the world; we are just trying to build things that work. There’s no point in making it sound more complicated than that.
