Gopi Hotel

Our building, Gopi Hotel, is at house number 5-8-108 in Nampally, Hyderabad. We are tucked away just behind the Gopi Mithai Shop and right across from the Nampally Railway Station. Being so close to the station means we see a lot of people carrying heavy bags and looking tired from their travels. The hotel has been here for many years and the architecture is quite old-fashioned. The rooms are basic with just the things you need for a night's stay. There is no elevator, so people have to use the stairs, which can be a bit of a climb if you have a lot of luggage. The street outside is always full of life, with tea stalls and people selling things on the pavement. You can hear the trains blowing their whistles at all hours of the night. It gets very hot in this part of Hyderabad, so we try to keep the rooms as cool as we can with ceiling fans. The lobby is small and usually has someone sitting there waiting for their train time. We don't have a big fancy reception desk or a bellhop. It’s more of a place where you just get your key and go to your room. We spend a lot of time washing linens and making sure the bathrooms are scrubbed. It’s a simple business for people who just need a bed near the tracks.
