Encore Diamond Tools

Our workshop is at House No. 23-130 BJR Nagar, in the IDA Gandhi Nagar area. It’s tucked behind MTAR in Balanagar, which can make it a little hard to find if you’re not familiar with the industrial estate. Encore Diamond Tools isn't a place with carpets or nice furniture. We have heavy machinery, metal scraps, and the smell of oil and grinding. We make tools for the diamond industry, so everything has to be very precise. It’s a noisy environment most of the time. We wear earplugs and work boots. The building itself is just a plain concrete structure, nothing special to look at. We spend our days calibrating machines and checking the output. It’s a lot of technical work that requires a lot of patience. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we spend the whole day fixing it instead of making tools. That’s just how it goes in a shop like this. We usually have a tea break at eleven and then another one in the late afternoon. Most of the guys here have been working together for years, so we don’t need to say much to get the job done. We just keep to our schedule and try to get the orders out on time. It’s a tough, dirty job, but someone has to do it. We keep a small radio by the back door too. It's usually the same few guys here every day. No one really bothers us out here behind MTAR.
