Balaji Agro Industries

If you come down to 96, Ymca Cross Road in Kachiguda, you’ll find our place. It’s an industrial area, so it’s always got trucks moving and people hauling things around. We deal with agro products, mostly seeds and grains that come in from the farms. The building isn’t much to look at, just a practical space for Balaji Agro Industries to do what needs doing. Inside, it smells like raw earth and dry husks most of the time. We spend a lot of our day checking the bags and making sure everything is stored where it should be. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the metal roof, but we just keep the shutters open for the breeze. There’s always someone coming by to ask about prices or to drop off a load. We don’t do any big advertising or anything. People in the trade know we are here on the cross road. Sometimes the traffic outside gets backed up all the way to the main junction, which makes it hard for the loaders, but we’ve gotten used to the noise. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and moving, and your clothes usually end up covered in dust by the end of the shift. We just get on with the business and try to keep things moving steadily. It is a plain, honest kind of job we do here every day.
