If you take the road from Lingampalli toward Khanapur, you’ll find us out in Vattinagulapalli. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city center, so it feels a little more open out here compared to the crowded streets. The road can get pretty dusty, especially when the big trucks go by in the morning. The school building is right there along the way. We start pretty early in the morning before the sun gets too high in the sky. You can hear the buses coming in from a distance. It’s a straightforward building, nothing too flashy or modern. We have the usual rows of classrooms and a space for the kids to run around during their breaks. Vattinagulapalli is changing a lot, with new things being built, but we’ve been sitting here on this road for a while now. The wind blows across the fields nearby, which is nice for a breeze, but it brings in a lot of red dust that we have to clean off the desks every single day. We don’t have fancy uniforms for the staff, just regular clothes that are comfortable for a long day of teaching. Most of us live nearby or take the bus in. It’s a lot of marking papers and keeping things in order. The school day has its own rhythm, from the first bell to the final one when everyone rushes out to go home. It’s just a normal, quiet school life here on the outskirts.
