Our place is right across from the M. P Garden Function Hall in Mehadipatnam. If there is a wedding or a party going on, we hear everything, but that’s just part of living in this part of Hyderabad. We are based out of the D. V. K Womens Hostel. It’s a busy environment with a lot of students coming and going at all hours. As an assistant professor, I spend a lot of my time here grading papers or preparing for the next day's lectures. It’s not a formal university office with mahogany desks. It’s more of a lived-in space where education meets daily life. The streets outside are always packed with people and food stalls. Sometimes the smell of biryani drifts in and makes it hard to focus. We don't go for anything polished or corporate because that’s not who we are. It’s just about getting the academic work done and helping the students who live here. The room is usually piled high with textbooks and notebooks. We have a small table and a lamp that flickers if you hit it wrong. It’s a simple setup, but it works for what we need. Living and working in the same area means there is never really a dull moment. We just take things as they come and try to stay organized. It’s a practical way to live in a city like Hyderabad, and I wouldn't have it any other way right now.
