Asst Engineer

Our office is located in the Old Rajeev Nagar Colony in Yanam, which is part of Pondicherry state even though it’s tucked away elsewhere. We are very close to the old age home, so it’s a fairly quiet and peaceful part of the colony. Being an Asst Engineer here means dealing with a variety of local tasks that keep the infrastructure going. The office is just a simple room with a few tables and some old metal filing cabinets. It’s not the most modern space, but it serves its purpose for the work we do. We have a lot of old records that we still have to look through from time to time. Yanam has its own unique feel, and working in Rajeev Nagar is quite nice because it’s not as hectic as the main town center. You see the same people walking by every morning. We don’t really do any big marketing or anything like that. We just have our name on the door and people come to us when they have technical issues to discuss. Sometimes the humidity is a bit much, and the salt in the air from the nearby water can be tough on the equipment, so we have to be careful with our gear. Most of the day is spent at the desk, but I do get out to see the sites whenever I can. It’s a regular job for regular people. We just try to stay on top of the work.
