Art Teacher

The Art Teacher studio is based in Sri Krishna Nagar Colony in Yousufguda. It is a well-known neighborhood because of all the creative people and film industry workers who live around here. The studio is located near the Yousufguda Checkpost, which is a major intersection that most people in this part of Hyderabad know very well. If you have ever tried to get through that checkpost at five in the evening, you know how hectic it can be. The studio is where the actual teaching happens. It is usually filled with the smell of oil paints and charcoal. There are always canvases leaning against the walls and jars of brushes soaking in water. It is not a pristine gallery; it is a working space where people get their hands dirty and actually learn. I have been teaching art here for a while, and the students are a mix of young kids and adults who are just looking for a new hobby. Sri Krishna Nagar has a very specific vibe—it is a bit crowded and the buildings are very close together, but it feels very alive and full of energy. There is always a tea stall nearby or the sound of an auto-rickshaw passing by. I do not use any fancy corporate language or complicated methods. We just sit down with the paper and try to draw. It is an easy, honest way to spend the day in a very busy part of the city.
