Annie Besant Municipal High School

Annie Besant Municipal High School is located right across from the Sara Classic Home in the Chintalmet-Attapur area. Since it’s a municipal school, it’s a busy place with a lot of students from all over the local area. The building is a bit older, with that typical government-style architecture you see around Hyderabad. The gates are usually wide open in the morning as the kids stream in, many of them walking from the nearby colonies. We have a lot of classrooms, and the walls are often covered with charts and posters that have been there for years. It’s not a quiet place; there’s always someone shouting across the courtyard or a bell ringing to signal the end of a period. The playground is mostly dirt, and the kids get quite dusty when they play during their break. We have the usual desks and benches that have seen many different students over the years, with names carved into the wood here and there. Attapur has grown a lot, and the traffic outside on the main road can be quite loud, especially with all the horns honking, but we just get used to it. The teachers have their own small room where they keep their registers and drink their tea. It’s a very practical, no-nonsense kind of school. We don’t have a lot of money for decorations, so we just focus on the lessons and making sure the kids show up on time.
