Ahmed Bangles Store

Ahmed Bangles Store is located at Plot No 21-2-288, right on the Main Road in Lad Bazar. If you know the area, you know how busy it gets with all the people walking by and the noise from the street vendors. Our shop is filled from top to bottom with all kinds of bangles, and sometimes it feels like there isn't enough room to breathe when it’s wedding season. My father started this a long time ago, and I’ve been helping out since I was a kid. The shelves are old wood and they sometimes creak when we pull out the heavy boxes for a customer. We don't have a big fancy display, just the glass cases that we wipe down every morning to get the fingerprints off. Lad Bazar is a competitive place, but we just stay in our corner and do our thing. We spend a lot of time organizing the colors and making sure nothing gets broken, which is hard because glass is so fragile. In the evenings, the lights from the street make everything in the shop look a bit different. We don’t really use a computer for anything; we just write everything down in a big blue book we keep near the cash box. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day, but seeing the different people who come in makes the time go by faster.
