A K Medical And General Store

Living and working in Golconda is something else. Our shop, A K Medical And General Store, is located at 9-8-285/1/A in Bada Bazar. It's an old part of Hyderabad and it feels like it. The streets are narrow and always full of people moving around. I start my day early, usually before the heat really sets in. I unlock the door and check if any new stock arrived the night before. Being in Bada Bazar means there is always noise and something happening outside. We sell the usual stuff, mostly medicines and some general household items that people need daily. People drop by on their way home from work or while they are out doing their regular shopping. I've known some of these customers since they were small. We don't have any big signs or loud music playing. It’s just me and maybe one helper behind the counter. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, so we keep the doors wide open to let the air in. It gets quite busy in the evenings when everyone is out. Dealing with the distributors is a headache sometimes, but it’s part of the job. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the boxes pile up in the back. It’s a honest way to make a living here in 500008. The shop is just a small part of this big, old neighborhood and we just keep it going day by day.
