If you come down to Belgaum Galli Cross, you’ll find us in Surgimath Oni. It’s one of those narrow lanes where everyone knows each other. The machines here have a specific hum to them that you get used to after a while. We work with plastic, making all sorts of things that people use. The air usually smells a bit like warm plastic, which isn't so bad once you've been here for five minutes. It gets pretty crowded in the workshop when we have a lot of raw material delivered. We have to move things around just to walk to the back. Surgimath Oni is a tight spot, but we’ve been here long enough that the neighbors don't mind the noise much. We start early because it’s cooler then. By midday, the heat from the molds makes the place quite warm. We have a couple of fans going, but they just move the air around. My father used to say this lane was even busier years ago. We handle the orders as they come in. Sometimes the plastic pellets spill on the floor and you have to be careful not to slip. We just keep our heads down and get the production done. It’s a simple business. We don't have a big sign out front, just the work going on inside. People from the cross-street know where we are if they need anything made. The floor gets a bit messy with plastic scraps, so we sweep it up every evening before we lock the doors.
