Tapas Stores

Tapas Stores is a small place located in Fortgloster, Bauria. We are right on the Station Road in Howrah, so there is always some noise from the trains and the people walking to the platform. I start the day early because the commuters need things before they catch their morning train. It’s mostly just me here, moving boxes and checking what’s running low. The shop has been here for a long time, and the walls show it a little bit. We keep things like pens, notebooks, washing powder, and snacks. It’s the kind of place where people stop for a minute to get change or a quick bottle of water. During the monsoon, the rain hits the tin roof so loud we can hardly hear each other talk. I usually have a radio playing in the corner, just some old songs to pass the time when it’s quiet. Howrah is a busy district, and Bauria has its own rhythm. We aren't trying to be a big supermarket or anything like that. It’s just a local store for local needs. Sometimes I run out of bread by ten in the morning because the delivery was late. That’s just part of running a shop on Station Road. I try to keep the prices fair so people keep coming back. It’s a lot of work, standing on my feet all day, but it’s what I know how to do.
