Shovan'S English Tuition

This tuition center is tucked away in Kona, right off Benaras Road in Howrah. It’s not a big institution or anything like that, just a place where students come after their regular school hours to get a bit of extra help with their English. Being in Bhatta Nagar, we get a lot of kids from the local neighborhood who just walk over. The traffic on Benaras Road is always loud, so there is a constant background noise of trucks and buses honking while we are trying to go over grammar rules. The room is small and we’ve packed in as many chairs as we comfortably can. There are piles of books everywhere and the walls have a few charts pinned up. It’s a bit cramped, especially when the evening batch arrives and everyone is trying to find a spot to sit. I spend most of my time checking essays and helping with pronunciation. It’s not fancy work, but it’s what we do here in Kona. The lighting isn't the best, but it works for reading. Most of the students are tired after a long day at school, so we try to keep things moving. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us making sure the lessons are covered. It feels very much like a part of the local street life here, with the chai stall just down the way and the constant movement of people heading home. We just stay focused on the books and the lessons.
