Mridul Chemicals is tucked away in the Narayani Building on 27 Brabourne Road. If you know this area, you definitely know how crowded it gets with all the trucks and people moving about. Our office is Room No. 312 on the 3rd floor. It is a relatively small space, mostly filled with chemical samples and heavy ledgers. We deal with chemical supplies for different industries, so there is always a bit of a specific, sharp smell in the air, but we don't really notice it anymore. The building itself is quite old and has that classic Kolkata feel to it with the high ceilings and thick walls. We spend most of our time answering emails and talking to our various suppliers. Sometimes the power goes out for a little bit, and we just sit and chat until the generator kicks in or the lights come back on. We don't have a marketing team or any shiny brochures. It is just a few of us making sure the orders for chemicals get to where they need to go on time. Every morning starts with opening the heavy shutters and dusting off the desks. We have our regulars who have been buying from us for decades. They know us by name, and we usually know exactly what they need before they even ask. It is a quiet kind of life inside the office, even if the road outside is totally chaotic.
