Man-N-Machine

Running a shop like Man-N-Machine here on G.T. Road in Shibpur keeps us pretty busy every single day. Being at 263, G.T. Road means there is never a quiet moment with all the traffic passing by outside. We’ve been operating from this spot for quite a while now. The space isn’t huge, but we’ve crammed in all the equipment we need to handle the daily mechanical work that comes through the door. Usually, you’ll find me or one of the boys covered in grease by mid-morning. It’s not the cleanest job, but someone has to do it. Shibpur is a tough area for space, so we have to be organized with how we stack the parts and the raw materials. Sometimes the rain makes the road outside a mess, which slows down the deliveries, but we manage somehow. We aren't big on talk or fancy paperwork. Most of our regulars just stop by, tell us what’s broken or what needs making, and we figure it out. The name Man-N-Machine pretty much sums up what happens here—it's just us and the iron. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but the shop stays roughly the same. It’s a lot of manual labor and long hours standing on the concrete floor. We don't mind it much because it's what we know. If you are looking for the place, just look for the old sign near the crossing.
