Kalimata Bhander

Kalimata Bhander is located at 232/B on the Grand Trunk Road in Howrah. We are quite close to the Belur Bazar area. Being on such a major road means there is always noise and people passing by. Our shop is small and filled with all kinds of items people need for their daily cooking and household tasks. We have been here for years, and the walls probably need a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to get to it. We stock things like spices, pulses, and other grocery items. It’s a lot of lifting and moving sacks around, which keeps us busy all day. Most of our customers are from the neighborhood and they stop by on their way home from the market. We don't use any complicated systems here. We just write things down and keep track of what people want. Sometimes we have a chat with the customers about the weather or the traffic on GT Road. It feels good to be a familiar face to people in Howrah. We don't have any fancy mission statements. We just open the shutters every morning and do our work until it's time to go home. It is a simple, practical life we have here at the shop. We like the routine and the people we see every single day around here.
