You can find us at 1 Iswar Chand Dutta Lane. It’s one of those narrow lanes where you really have to watch your step because of the bikes and people moving through. The building isn't much to look at from the outside, but inside we stay busy with all the garment work. There’s usually the sound of sewing machines going or the thud of fabric rolls being moved around. We handle a lot of different clothes, and the floor is often covered in small scraps of thread and cloth by the end of the day. It’s dusty work, and it can get quite warm in the afternoons, but we just keep the fans going and stay on task. We don’t have a big showroom or anything like that. It’s more of a workspace where things actually get made or sorted. Most of us have been working with fabric for a long time, so our hands just know what to do without thinking too much. Sometimes we have stacks of shirts or trousers piled up waiting to be sent out to customers. It’s a small operation, really, just a handful of us tucked away in this lane. We don’t spend money on fancy signs or decorations because the work speaks for itself. It’s just honest labor, day in and day out, making sure the garments are ready when they’re supposed to be. The neighbors know us by the sound of the machines running all through the afternoon.
