Engineering & Casting Corporation

We’ve been operating Engineering & Casting Corporation from Senapati Nilay 14/1, on Kedar Mukherjee Lane in Kadamtala for quite some time now. It’s a bit of a hidden spot if you don't know the lane well, but once you find us, you’ll hear the furnace blowing. Casting is a hot and heavy job, especially in the summer months when the humidity in Kadamtala gets really high. We mostly work with iron and other metals, pouring them into sand molds we’ve spent the whole morning preparing. The shop is old, with high ceilings and walls that have turned black from the smoke over the many years. We don't have a fancy waiting room or anything like that. If you come to see us, you’ll likely find us covered in sand and soot from the molds. It’s hard work, but there is something satisfying about seeing a liquid metal turn into a solid part. We don't use much automation here; most things are still done by hand. We take our time to make sure the molds are packed tight so there aren't any bubbles or mistakes in the finish. The local tea stall delivers to us twice a day, and that’s usually when we take our main break. It’s a small operation, and we like keeping it that way so we can see everything that happens on the floor. It’s just us doing what we’ve always done in this part of town.
