Alloy Casting & Engg. Concern

If you walk down Ramkrishna Mandir Path you will find us at 19/15B. It is a narrow road and sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time getting through but we make it work. The foundry at Alloy Casting & Engg. Concern is a hot place especially when we are pouring metal. You can feel the heat from the furnace even before you walk through the door. We have been doing this for years and the walls of the workshop are stained with soot and smoke. It’s a very manual type of work. We spend hours packing sand into molds and making sure the patterns are set just right. There is a specific smell to a casting shop that you never really get out of your clothes. We don't have any polished floors or air-conditioned offices here. It’s mostly just us, the tools, and a lot of scrap metal waiting to be melted down. Sometimes when the work is slow we stand by the door and talk to the people walking towards the temple. It’s a quiet enough street except for when we are working. We focus on the engineering side of things but it’s more about experience than anything you find in a book. You learn how the metal flows and how it cools just by watching it day after day. It’s hard work but it’s what we know how to do best.
