Arham Apparels is on the 1st floor at No. 519 Grand Trunk Road in Howrah South. We are right opposite the old Navabharat Cinema and very close to Sandhya Bazar. You have to go up a flight of stairs that are a bit narrow and steep to reach us. Being on the first floor means we are a bit away from the direct noise of the street, but you can still hear the heavy trucks on Grand Trunk Road all day long. The shop is mostly filled with boxes and piles of clothes ready to go out. We don't have much in the way of decoration, just some metal racks and a few lights. There is a small desk in the corner where I keep all the bills and papers. It usually has a lot of dust on it because the market area is so busy. From our window, you can see the crowds heading into the cinema or the market. We spend a lot of time packing and unpacking things, so the sound of brown tape being pulled is something you hear a lot here. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, so we keep the windows open even if it lets the noise in. We know the other people who have offices in this building. It is a lot of hard work moving stock up and down those stairs, but we just get on with it.
