About Surojit Hand Embroidery – Housewares & Supplies in Howrah
We are based in Khorop South Para in Amta. This is where we do our hand embroidery work. It's not a factory. It's more of a workshop where we sit and do the stitching ourselves. There are needles, threads of all colors, and frames everywhere. The lighting has to be good, so we stay near the windows or under the bright bulbs. Amta is a quiet area, and Khorop South Para is where we've always been. We do the work by hand, so it takes time. It's not fast like a machine. Each piece is a little different because of that. We don't have a big marketing team. Most people find us through word of mouth around here. We work on fabrics that people bring us or things we get from suppliers. It’s a lot of sitting and focused work. Sometimes our backs ache by the end of the day. We drink a lot of tea to keep going. The workshop is part of our everyday life. It's not fancy at all. The floor is just concrete and we have simple chairs. We've been doing this for years, passed down through the family. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood while we work. It's a decent way to earn a living. We just keep our heads down and finish the patterns. People know us in South Para and they come by when they have a project. It is quiet and steady work.
