Deepa Cottage Industries

We are located over at 42/1, Ram Charan Seth Road, which is right in the Ram Rajatala area near the Santragachi post office. It is a bit of a local spot, not a big industrial zone, which really suits the kind of work we do here. As a cottage industry, things are done on a much smaller scale. We work with our hands quite a bit, making things in small batches every week. The space is a bit cramped sometimes because we have raw materials stacked up in the corners, but we know exactly where everything is kept. It has a real family-run feel to it. Neighbors often walk by and wave while we are busy working. We do not have any automated assembly lines or anything high-tech. It is more about taking the slow time to get each item right. Some days are much busier than others, especially when we have a big order to get out to the post office down the road before they close. The street outside can get a bit muddy and messy when it rains, but that is just part of being in this neighborhood. We have been here long enough that everyone knows who we are and what we make. We just keep our heads down and focus on the work at hand. It is honest work, and it keeps the lights on for us. We would much rather be at the workbench making things than sitting at a computer all day long.
