Daljit Singh Architect

My office is at H.No.10 on Fatehgarh Road, right across from Kanwar Hospital. It makes it very easy to tell people where to go. Daljit Singh is my name, and I’ve been working as an architect out of this spot for quite a while. It’s a homey kind of office, not one of those cold glass buildings you see downtown. I have my drawing board set up near the window so I can see what’s happening on the road. Often, people stop by just because they saw the sign while visiting the hospital. The space is filled with old project folders and scale models that have gathered a bit of dust over the years. I don’t use a lot of fancy tech unless I have to; I still like the feel of a pencil on paper for the first few ideas. My days are split between sitting here drawing and driving out to see how the masonry is looking on a new build. It’s a lot of walking around in the sun and talking to foremen. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate and we get behind schedule, but we try to make it up when the sun comes back out. I don't have a big staff, so if you call, you usually get me or my assistant directly. We just try to keep the buildings sturdy and the clients informed about what’s happening with their money and materials.
