We’ve been at this spot on Khatir Bazar Lane for quite some time now. If you know the Rishra area, you know it gets pretty busy around here, especially with all the movement near the station and the market. Our place at 70/Q isn't hard to find if you’re familiar with the PS-Srirampur side of Hooghly. It’s a basic setup. We deal with steel, mostly just getting things from point A to point B and making sure the orders are right. Most mornings start with checking the logs and seeing what’s arrived on the trucks. The lane can be narrow, so when the big deliveries come in, it’s a bit of a squeeze, but we manage. People around here know us as just the steel guys. We don't have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. It’s mostly just desks, some old fans that make too much noise in the summer, and a lot of paperwork piled up. My tea guy comes by twice a day, which is the highlight of the afternoon. We just try to get the work done and go home. Sometimes the rain makes the lane muddy, and that slows things down, but that’s just how it is in West Bengal during the monsoon. We don't do much talking, just handling the iron and steel stocks that come through these doors day in and day out. It is a lot of heavy lifting and counting, but it keeps us busy.
