You’ll find us out on NH-2, right on the Delhi Road in the Bangihatti area of Serampore. It’s part of the Hoogly district, but most people just associate us with Bhushan Power & Steel Ltd in Kolkata because we are quite close to the city. The highway is always busy with big trucks carrying all sorts of things. The noise from the road is something you just get used to after working here for a week. We are in a spot that is very industrial and grey. There’s no point in having a fancy, polished office here because of all the soot and the traffic. We keep the place functional and practical. We have a lot of space for the steel to move in and out of the yard. Serampore is an old area, so some of the buildings around us have been there for decades. We handle the logistics and the distribution from this side of the city. It’s a lot of shouting over the engine noises and checking the clipboards to make sure everything is right. We don’t use a lot of big words or marketing talk. We just talk about tons and meters and delivery times. The tea guy comes by twice a day on his bicycle, and that’s when we take a short break. It’s a hard-working place with no frills. No one wears a suit or a tie here. We just get the steel where it needs to go. That’s how we’ve always done things around this place.
