The shop is located out in Rahimpur Village, which is part of the Jangipara Tehsil in Hooghly. It is a bit of a drive to get out here, but it’s a quiet area for the most part, except when the school nearby lets out. Being near Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya School means we see a lot of students walking by in the afternoons, which brings some life to the street. Sova Enterprises operates out of a fairly simple building. We don't have fancy office chairs or air conditioning that works all the time. Mostly, we are busy organizing stock and dealing with the paperwork that comes with running a business in a rural district. The Hooghly weather can be unpredictable, especially during the monsoon when the roads get a bit muddy. We spend a lot of time talking to people from the village and nearby towns who stop in for various things. It’s not a complicated setup here. We open up early, check what arrived on the last truck, and try to get things sorted before the sun gets too high. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour or two, so we just sit outside and wait it out. It is a slow pace compared to the city, but we manage to get everything done eventually. It feels like a real part of the community here, just doing what we do every day without much fuss.
