Living and working out of Flat 104A here in May Fair Sudama Apartment has its moments. If you know this part of Uttarpara, you know 3 No Ram Sita Gath Street is one of those lanes where you have to watch your step with the puddles during the monsoon. It’s an okay building, nothing special to look at from the outside, but it’s home. Arindam Singha Roy is just me, keeping things moving from this little corner of West Bengal. The apartment itself gets a bit warm in the summer months, so the fan is always humming in the background. My desk is tucked into the corner where the light hits best in the morning. Sometimes the delivery guys have trouble finding the entrance because the sign for the apartment is a bit faded. I usually tell them to look for the big gate near the corner. It’s mostly families living around here, so you hear the sounds of pressure cookers whistling around lunchtime and kids playing in the corridors after school lets out. I’ve got my books and my files spread out. It’s not the kind of place you’d see in a magazine, just a practical setup for getting work done. The commute isn't bad if you’re local, though the traffic near the station can get a bit wild. I’ve been here long enough that the local shopkeepers know my face. It’s just a regular life in a busy neighborhood.
