You can find our place in the village area of Khamargachi. We are quite close to the Balagarh police station. It is a quiet spot, surrounded mostly by fields and local homes. We set this place up to give students a bit of extra help with their schoolwork. It isn’t a big, formal school or anything like that. It is just a place where kids come after their regular classes are done for the day. We have a few simple rooms with benches and some old tables. It’s very basic, but it does the job. We focus on the subjects that the local kids find the most difficult. Most of the people who teach here live in the same neighborhood, so we know the families and the students quite well. It’s a very local effort. On days when it rains hard, the road to Khamargachi gets pretty muddy, but the students usually show up anyway. We don’t have air conditioning or any of those fancy digital screens. We use chalkboards and paper books. It is the way we all learned, and we think it still works well enough today. We spend time talking to parents about how their kids are getting on. There is no complicated enrollment process here; people just stop by and talk to us. We have been here for a long time and have seen many local children grow up and head off to college. It’s a good feeling to see them succeed in life after spending their afternoons here.
