Saraswati World School

Saraswati World School is situated right on G T Road at Khejuria More. This part of Bandel in Hooghly is usually humming with the sound of trucks and buses passing by. Our school sits right there, so it is easy for everyone to find. We have a big gate and a dirt yard where the kids play during their breaks. It is a simple setup without any of the modern bells and whistles you see in big cities. The classrooms have old-fashioned blackboards and the fans make a clicking sound as they spin. We have a staff room that is usually piled high with notebooks and registers. The teachers are mostly from the local area and they know the families here well. We don't have a mission statement or any of those fancy posters on the walls. We just show up and teach. In the summer, the rooms get a bit stuffy, but we open all the windows to get a breeze from the trees outside. Most of the students come from the surrounding neighborhoods. Some of them walk a long way to get here. We have a small library with books that have seen better days, but the kids still like reading them. It is a steady, quiet kind of life we have here. We focus on the daily lessons and making sure the school stays in good shape for the next group.
