Mother Mary Public School

Mother Mary Public School is located right by the Bansai Auto Stand in Kanaipur, Konnagar. Our building is a familiar sight for anyone who takes the auto-rickshaw around this part of Hooghly. It is a large, solid structure that houses all our classrooms and the main office. Because we are near the auto stand, you can always hear the drivers calling out and the engines running throughout the day. The school building has several levels, and the corridors can get quite breezy when the wind blows from the open fields nearby. We have a regular routine that starts with the morning assembly and ends when the last student leaves in the afternoon. The office is usually a busy place where parents come to pay fees or ask about their children's progress. We have a lot of wooden cupboards filled with years of records and old textbooks. Our staff is a mix of people from Konnagar and the surrounding villages. We do not go for anything too fancy or modern. We just have standard classrooms with fans that hum and desks that have seen many years of use. It is a practical place where we focus on the daily task of schooling the local kids without any extra fuss or expensive decorations.
