Ruby Enterprise

Down in Hindmotor, on Ghosh Para Lane, you’ll find our place at 34/C/1. It’s a narrow lane in Hooghly and it gets pretty busy when the morning market is on. Ruby Enterprise isn't some giant factory. It’s more of a local operation. We’ve been here for a long time, watching the neighborhood change around us. The building is old, with high ceilings and walls that could use a fresh coat of paint. We do our work, mostly dealing with supplies and trade. There is always a stack of invoices on the main table. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour, and we just sit outside and talk to the neighbors until it comes back on. That's just how life is in this part of town. We know the postman and the guy who sells snacks down the road. We don't have a website that works properly, but people still find us. Usually, it's by word of mouth. We don't use big words or try to impress anyone. We just sell what we have and try to be fair about it. The floor is made of old stone and it stays cool even when it’s hot outside. We keep a few old chairs for visitors, but they’re usually covered in papers. It’s a bit messy, but we know where everything is. It’s home for us. We've seen kids grow up in this lane and now they have their own kids. It's a long history.
