Larsen & Toubro

You can find our office in Rameshwarpur, which is in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. We are close to the Pandua police station. It is a village setting, so things move at their own speed here. The building we are in is quite old and has a lot of character, though it could probably use a new coat of paint one of these days. We have been here for a while under the Larsen & Toubro banner. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We walk or take the bus to get in every morning. The office is usually cluttered with blueprints and site reports. It’s not the kind of place where you’d see people in suits. We wear what is practical for the dust and the heat. Sometimes the rain gets so heavy that we have to move the desks away from the windows to keep the papers dry. But that’s just how it goes in Bengal. We have a small tea kettle in the corner that is always on for whoever needs a cup. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to write fancy speeches for us. We just know our jobs and we do them. If someone has a problem, we sit down and talk it through until it’s fixed. It is an honest way to spend the day and we like the quiet of the area more than the noise.
