Gripwell

Gripwell is located at 14, G.T. Road. We are right by the Kheya Ghat in the Uttarpara area. Being near the river has its own feel. You can smell the water sometimes when the breeze is right. G.T. Road is always busy, of course. It’s one of those main arteries where the traffic never really seems to stop. Our building is an old one, sitting right there near the post office. We’ve been here for quite some years now. The walls are thick and it stays relatively cool inside even when the sun is beating down on the road outside. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who have been together for a while. We know the neighbors and the people who walk past every day to the ghat. Our daily life is pretty simple. We come in, open up the shutters, and start on whatever needs doing. There isn't any corporate polish here. We have old wooden desks and shelves filled with stuff we’ve collected over the years. It feels like a lived-in space because it is. Sometimes the noise from the G.T. Road can be a bit much, but you get used to it after a week or two. Uttarpara is a good place to be. It’s got history and a bit of a slower pace once you step off the main road. We are happy with our little corner near the ghat. We just keep on doing our thing.
