Cummins India Ltd.

Over in West Bengal, our office is located at Hindmotor Colony in the Hooghly district. Specifically, we are in C-2/20, which is part of the old housing quarters where Cummins India Ltd. operates. This area has a very different feel compared to the big cities. It’s a bit quieter, and you can see the history of the place in the architecture of the colony buildings. Hindmotor used to be a very busy industrial hub, and you can still feel that legacy around here. Our office is small and fits right into the residential block. It’s a bit of a journey to get here if you are coming from Kolkata, involving a train ride and then a rickshaw. We have a few desks set up and some old filing cabinets that have been with us for years. The ceiling fans hum constantly to keep the humidity at bay. We mostly work on local coordination and paperwork from this spot. During the lunch break, we usually walk over to the small market nearby to get some fresh food. Life moves a bit slower here, and we like it that way. There is no rush or pressure to look fancy. We just do our jobs and go home. The neighbors are mostly families who have lived here for generations. Sometimes the rain in Hooghly gets very heavy, and we just watch it from the balcony while we wait for the day to end.
