Bharat Udyog

Bharat Udyog is tucked away at 59/B/2 Bakultala Lane in Konnagar. It’s a narrow lane, and if you aren't looking for it, you might miss us entirely. This part of Hooghly has a lot of history, and our building feels like it’s been here forever. Inside, the ceiling is high and the air smells like metal and old grease. We do a lot of basic manufacturing work here. It’s not the kind of place where people wear suits. Most of us are in work clothes that have seen plenty of stains over the years. We have some old heavy machinery that makes a lot of noise when it starts up in the morning. The neighbors don't seem to mind much because we’ve all been here so long. We get our raw materials delivered by small trucks that barely fit down the lane. There is a lot of lifting and moving things by hand. During the monsoon, the rain hits the tin roof so loud we can’t even hear each other talk. We just keep working through it. We don't have a big corporate office; our desk is just a wooden table in the corner covered in drawings and tea cups. People from around Konnagar know they can come to 59/B/2 if they need something fabricated. We just do the work and try to get it right the first time without making a big deal out of it.
